Yew Chung International School was opened in September 1993 after a request from the Shanghai Government to facilitate the growing number of foreign children in the city. 

YCEF is now the second-largest international school in Shanghai with more than 1300 students and has 3 campuses in Hong Qiao, Gubei and Pudong.

The school pays a lot of attention to the creative element of the education and music and arts plays an important role in the curriculum and teaching methodology. The Gubei campus houses around 50% of the students and offers classes from 7 years old to 18 years old. YCEF has also incorporated Chinese speaking, reading and writing lessons into the curriculum and of course Chinese culture.

The classes have between 20-26 students and 2 teachers, one from overseas and one Chinese. Most of the foreign teachers are from Britain, Australia and New Zealand and teaches based on a British curriculum with most of the teaching material coming from UK and Hong Kong. Since the school can offer a comprehensive ESL program, it’s a good choice for those who are not from a native English-speaking country.

Miscellaneous Fees: These fees cover the cost of teaching supplies, student consumables, and costs associated with local fireld trips and inter-school sports, where applicable.

Once an offer of placement is made by the school, the Reservation Fee (or applicable Semester School Fee) shall be paid within ten(10) working days from the date of issuance of the offer. Once the student has been successfully enrolled, the reservation fee will be applied against the Tuition Fee.
