Shanghai Rego International School was founded in 2003 and is as such one of the newest international schools in the city. The school offers a full U.K. National Curriculum and is registered with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA). Since its inception in the mid-eighties, The National Curriculum in the U.K. has been developed and refined and is now accepted as a bench mark in school curriculum planning.
All the teachers have University Degrees, Teaching Qualification and experience with the National Curriculum and all teachers are expected to encourage high standards in all aspects of school life.
The class size for Kindergarten and Reception classes are 16 students at maximum and the size for Primary and Secondary classes are 18 students at maximum. All classes up to and including Year 4 have a classroom assistant as well as a full-time home base teacher.
The classroom assistants are all bilingual and will also teach some members of their class Mandarin Chinese. School uniform is required and one set of Summer and Winter uniforms are included in the school tuition.
The facilities include: fully equipped science labs, computer labs, design & technology room, art -, drama – and music rooms, auditorium, indoor gymnasium, all weather pitch, indoor swimming pool, library and cafeteria.
The school also offer a wide range of after-school activities such as The range of activities on offer include extra sporting, artistic and musical clubs as well as computer clubs, calligraphy classes, cookery classes, instrument tuition, homework clubs, drama clubs etc.
The majority of these activities are taken by members of the school staff and therefore extra charges are only incurred when outside facilities may need to be used (e.g. for the ski club) or when a specialist teacher has to be employed for a particular activity.
