The Shanghai American School (SAS) is an independent, non-profit, coeducational day school that is sponsored by the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai. It is owned and managed by the SAS Association of Parents.  Every parent of a child at the school is automatically a member of the association. 

SAS is by far the largest international school in Shanghai - and in China - with more than 1900 enrolled students from 30 countries spread on 2 campuses; one in Puxi and one in Pudong and offers a curriculum from Pre-K through Grade 12.

Note:

If a student does not attend any days of school in a semester, school fees paid for that semester, except for the application fee of RMB 2125, will be refunded in full. However, if notice of withdrawal for 2009-2010 is not received before July 1, 2009, the US$2,000 deposit will not be refunded. Requests for refunds received after August 1, 2009, will be subject to a penalty of 20% on the tuition fees billed in addition to the US$2,000 deposit.
