Qin Huai River

Qin Huai River, a branch of the great Yangtze River, is 110 kilometers (about 68 miles) in length and covers a drainage area of 2,631 square kilometers (about 1,016 square miles). The river was originally called Huai River, and it is said that the river was channeled to the city of Nanjing during the reign of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, so it was named Qin Huai River from then on. Qin Huai River is the largest river in Nanjing and is the “life blood” of the city. Qin Huai River is so fascinating that it captures the imaginations of people both at home and aboard.
The Qin Huai is divided into inner and outer rivers. The most frequented place along the inner river is the Confucius Temple. It is a grand temple with an unassuming style, which was built to commemorate the famous Chinese sage, Confucius.

There are many supermarkets and shopping malls in Nanjing, some of them are well -known, where you can find some international brands name and western imported stuffs. There are several other department stores, where you can look around and do some window shopping.

Xinjiekou
Xinjiekou, among Nanjing citizens, is a name stands for a commercial and shopping area, which is right in the heart of Nanjing city. For those who cannot resist shopping for clothes, head directly for Xinjiekou. 
Busy markets with affordable clothing such as Fashion Lady co-exist with high-class department stores such as Gold Eagle Int’l Plaza, Oriental Department Store and Deji Plaza.

Before you arrive in Nanjing, you may be concerned about your health and you should be extra aware of your gygiene. Wash your hands before meals and during the day. Also note that toilets in Restaurants and public places can be very primitive so you should carry your own tissue. If you are desperate in the middle of the street and need to pay a visit ot a toilet, you may consider stepping into one of the many McDonald’s or KFC’s that are spread all over the city.

Drinking water should never come from the tap unless your home or hotel has a water cleaning filter system – and even then it may advisable to only drink bottle water. Bottled water is widely available all over Nanjing and of good quality. Further more, most houses come with one or more water dispensers as well and the management offices in the compounds usually provide delivery services of the gallons.
