The Shanghai American School (SAS) is an independent, non-profit, coeducational day school that is sponsored by the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai. It is owned and managed by the SAS Association of Parents.  Every parent of a child at the school is automatically a member of the association. 

SAS is by far the largest international school in Shanghai - and in China - with more than 1900 enrolled students from 30 countries spread on 2 campuses; one in Puxi and one in Pudong and offers a curriculum from Pre-K through Grade 12.

Deposit/Cancellation Fee(non-refundable)    USD $5,000

For each semester, a non-refundable deposit/ cancellation fee in USD will be applied.  For semester 1 the non-refundable deposit fee due before April 1 is applied toward the tuition.  For semester 2 of the academic school year, a seat cancellation charge of USD $5,000 will be charged if the student withdraws from the School after November 1 for the second semester. Other cancellation penalties may also apply and are subject to change as approved by the Board of Directors.

The application fee is non-refundable and only valid for the applying school year. This fee is payable when the student抯

application is submitted and prior to the evaluation by the admission committee.

Matriculation Fee                           USD $2,200

The matriculation fee is a one-time mandatory fee that is dedicated to building project loans, construction, repairs and

maintenance cost for school facilities.

ESOL Fee (English for Speakers of Other Languages) RMB ?0,000

A one-time non-refundable ESOL fee will be charged to every new student who, upon assessment, is enrolled into the ESOL program. The fee is dedicated to support a portion of the costs specific to this program.

Technology Fee                                     RMB ?1,500

The non-refundable mandatory technology fee will be charged to all Middle and High School students in grades designated by the Administration. The implementation of the 1:1 Laptop Program is to enhance their learning. For this fee, the student will receive a MacBook complete with software licensed to the School, AppleCare onsite services and warranty.
